Thighplasty, also known as a thigh lift, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape the thighs by reducing excess skin and, in some cases, fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body. It’s typically chosen by individuals who have loose, sagging skin on their thighs due to significant weight loss, aging, or genetic factors.
During a thigh lift procedure, the surgeon makes incisions in the thigh area. The size and position of these incisions will depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. In some cases, liposuction may be used in conjunction with the thigh lift to remove excess fat. Once the excess skin and fat are removed, the remaining skin is pulled up, tightened, and stitched in place.
Post-procedure, patients may experience some swelling and discomfort, which generally subsides within a few weeks. Most patients can return to work and resume their normal activities after several weeks, depending on the extent of the surgery and their individual rate of recovery. A thigh lift can dramatically improve the appearance and silhouette of the thighs, leading to increased confidence and comfort in clothing. As with any surgical procedure, it’s important to have realistic expectations and to discuss these with your surgeon.
